   CRESCENT CITY OLQ CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Louisiana.

​

Mission and Goals:

 

    CRESCENT CITY OLQ  CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION is organized exclusively for charitable and education purposes. The purpose of this Corporation is to:

 

  1. Promote the general purpose and programs of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

  2. Provide quality local programs of service which improves the social and economic conditions of individuals and families in the Greater New Orleans community.

  3. Annually award the Leah B. Gordon Memorial financial-aid scholarships to the students of the following local Historically Black Colleges and Universities: Dillard University, Southern University at New Orleans and Xavier University.

  4. Support the Educational Advancement Foundation, Inc., a tax-exempt entity of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. organized under the Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

 

   In the area of education, our goal to provide scholarships to students in order to support their higher education aim of becoming professional citizens. 

 

   In the area of Health, CCOLQ is passionate about providing the community with an opportunity for health screenings, school supplies, and education on healthy eating.  This commitment is undertaken annually through a “Healthy, Wealthy and Wise” Back to School Health Fair and Family Health Expo. The fair is free and open to the public. The expo focuses on three areas: 1) Healthy-Preventive screenings such as vision, dental, blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose, and 2) Wealthy-focus on financial health. The highlight of this component will be a “Road to Home Ownership” seminar to inform parents of the steps and requirements to purchase a home. 3) Wise health education on various topics, including but not limited to nutrition, heart disease, cancer, asthma, high blood pressure, kidney disease, and other common illnesses.

   As a charitable organization CCOLQ supports cancer survivors through an annual fundraiser, the proceeds of which are donated to cancer research and treatment and support of both male and female cancer survivors.

Board of Directors

 

The board of directors comprises fifteen (15) members - 5 officers and 10 directors - that includes: 

the President, 1 st Vice President/Program Chair, 2nd Vice President, and Treasurer of Omicron Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha
Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Directors are elected by members.


Meetings - General Meetings are held quarterly in March, June, September, and December, the 3rd Thursday of the month, at 7PM
Activities- October Cancer Awareness Event, Eyeglass Donations, Collaboration with QLQ Connections Committee Politics and Pearls Community Award, Partnership with Hancock Whitney Coretta Scott King Pearl of Justice Scholarship

Membership: Membership/Voting Membership - Membership is open to any financially active member of Omicron Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
